What is EVA?

EVA is the abbreviation for Event  A ction and it has been developed together with Nudger 3 to provide a simple scripting language for configuring batch processings/actions.

An EVA file is actually a simple ASCII file containing several commands for a lot of different actions from running programs to sending E-Mail and read/write files.

Prerequisites

On a machine where you want to process EVA scripts you need a Win2000/XP/2003 OS and Nudger 3 or the EVA-Script runtime.

Why EVA?

Nudger 3 can directly process VB scripts also but for simple jobs EVA scripts are more simple than VB scripts and they are specialized for batch processing needs.

How does EVA look like?

EVA Scripts can be very simple and even very complex according to the things that should be done. Simple EVA scripts contain simply a list of commands to execute but as it supports subroutines as well as conditional processings (IF) it can look similar to a VB script. A simple sample is given here:

GETFILENAMEONLY "DestFName", "%EVI.FullName%"
SETVAR "Destination", "F:\Post\Temp\%SCR.DestFName%.tif"
EXECSHELL """F:\WORK\Diverse\DDEExec\DDEExec.exe"" SOURCE=""%EVI.FullName%"" DESTINATION=""%SCR.Destination%"" FILE=""F:\WORK\Diverse\DDEExec\ConvertUGIIPlot2tiff.dde""",,1,1

Further documentation

As the EVA script language has been developed with Nudger 3 you can find further documentation in the Nudger 3 documentation.
