This document is an introduction to the EVI-Interface and it's purpose.
EVI is the abbreviation for Event Information and it has been developed together with Nudger 3 to provide a common interface for integrating other applications and processes into the Nudger batch processing ring.
An EVI file is actually a simple ASCII file containing information about an event that has occured.
On a machine where you want to process a EVI files you need a Win2000/XP/2003 OS and Nudger 3.
In contrast to version 2 of Nudger the version 3 the main application has been splitted in two components - the Watcher and the Nudger. While Watcher's job is to trigger events whenever they should occur the Nudger's job is the execution of the processes that should be done on event occurrence. This splitting has been done because of two main reasons:
EVI files can be created easily from other applications to manually trigger events for the Nudger application group.
There are several types of events known by Nudger but the evi files always looks similar to this:
[Event_Info]
Creator=WM
CreatorsWS=WM_NT
Editor=WM
EditorsWS=WM_NT
SharedEvent=0
OffLineEnabled=0
OffLineTimeEnd=

InfoText=Internal Nudger feature test
Keywords=Internal, Test

EventType=INTERVAL

As the EVI interface has been developed with Nudger 3 you can find further documentation in the Nudger 3 documentation.
