As MAY Computer has now years of experience around document management and archiving our former DOCS Open related interfaces have undergone a complete redesign with the following key improvements:

• Multi-Level DMS integration
  That means that server or end user applications using our interfaces can choose distance from destination DMS and use the appropriate part of the provided interfaces.
  
• Document related data is separated from processing instructions
  That means that the structure and processing order is more transparent, clear and further there is no risk of possible future macro viruses (if the format becomes more popular).
  
• DMS independence
  That means that other DMS software can be integrated by developing an appropriate plugin.
  
• Application Control Script integration
  An Application Control Script is a script written in a simple scripting language developed by MAY Computer. It is easier to handle as VB or Java scripts but it can even call them exchanging data. As the Application Control Script language is continously enhanced these enhancements become automatically part of the command repository of document related scripts/processing instructions.

DRD - Document Related Data

Document related meta data and document files are covered by the DRD interface. It can be understood as link or even container file combining all data required for dealing with documents. DRD itself is a text based file but can be combined with the related document files to XML or ZIP. The DRD interface is provided as activeX DLL by MAY Computer but as the format is open and documented DRD files can be reproduced easily even without. As DRD itself is commonly designed and defined and does not contain processing instructions it is DMS independent.

DRS - Document Related Script

Document related script is an Application Control Script enhancement module providing DRD and DMS related commands. However the DMS related commands are implemented as wrapper interface following a stencil/template which allows third parties to build an integration module with other DMS software. MAY Computer is implementing such a module for Hummingbird DM for example. Document related scripts can be performed launching DRS scripts or through ActiveX.

HDMI - Hummingbird DM Interface

MAY Computer is implementing a cover interface for the Hummingbird DM API which is easier to use than the API provided by Hummingbird. Further it provides simple processing of DRD objects/files against the Hummingbird DM and it implements the DRS implementation module for Hummingbird DM. The interface is provided as activex to support more specifically Hummingbird DM related operations.
